Avid Learning in association with Mumbai Gallery Weekend, St+art India Foundation, Gallery Art & Soul, Furtados Music and Steinway, the Consul General of Switzerland in Mumbai, Guildhall School of Music & Drama, and Royal Opera House, Mumbai, came together to make magic on this beautiful evening for a performance of operatic chamber music with compositions by Chopin, Mozart, Beethoven, and more. The Opera House experienced music and art sculptures.
The evening’s performers were Lars Fischer, a Swiss-British tenor, Sandeep Gurrapadi an Indian-American operatic tenor, Antonia Thwaites, a classical soprano and educator from the Isle of Wight, Martha Maria-Mitu a violinist and educator, and Chiara Naldi from London on the Piano.
The Steinway & Sons Model S Grand Piano held pride of place accompanying and leading music works that transcended several ages. The Royal Opera House in Mumbai is a compact performance venue which seats approximately 600 people. The Steinway was able to carry itself to the outer edges of the auditorium with clarity, forcefulness and emotion. It was a perfect companion to the chamber music and operatic works that graced the evening.
Asad Laljee, Curator of the Royal Opera House was in attendance and welcomed people to the event. The five artists took over after him, leaving the audience mesmerised by their take on the compositions of composers we’ve known for years, in a different light!
The magnificent sculptures from Sculptor Raj Shahani’s Continuum exhibition were displayed across the venue in association with Gallery Art & Soul. The event was also a part of the Mumbai Gallery Weekend 2023 as the art displayed in the venue endeavours to bring together potential art collectors and enthusiasts to broaden the reach and relevance of contemporary art.
The audience was highly impressed with the whole evening and thoroughly enjoyed it. The event was a success and the Continuum of these different forms of art and entertainment made the evening a joyous one!
