Chelsea de Souza is a Young Steinway Artist from Mumbai. Winner of four All India piano competitions, including the first Furtados Con Brio competition in 2010, the 2009 Musiquest competition and two Mehli Mehta Music Foundation competitions, she won the 2010 IIYM international competition and received her LTCL diploma at the age of 16 with a high distinction of 93. Chelsea has appeared in concert across the US, Belgium, Germany, France and India as both a solo and a collaborative musician. The recipient of three summer scholarships to study with Sheila Arnold at the Hochschule fur Musik in KoIn,Germany, she has also played for artists including Leon Fleisher, Richard Goode and Sir Andras Schiff.
A student of Boris Slutsky, Chelsea graduated from the Peabody Institute of John Hopkins University with a Master’s degree in Piano Performance and the Lynn Taylor Hebden Performance Prize. She also holds Bachelor’s degrees in Politics and in Piano Performance and Vocal Accompanying from Oberlin College and Conservatory. Her mentors during her studies in India include Shanti Seldon, Blosoom Mendonca and Delia Varga.
