Born into a well-known musical family, Blossom Mendonca made her debut on stage at the age of our at a singing competition, in which she won the first prize. She began her musical education with her mother, Blanche Viegas, and furthered her studies with Mme. Olga Craen and Tehmie Gazdar in Mumbai. She then studied at the Conservatorio Superior de Musica de Valencia in Spain, receiving the ‘Titulo de Profesor’ with Distinction in piano, under the guidance of concert pianist and teacher Mario Monreal. With a musical teaching lineage that includes Haydn, Beethoven, Mozart, and Liszt, she feels compelled to spread the joy that music gives her. She is also a Licentiate of the Trinity College of Music, London, and has a Masters in Psychology from Bombay University. Blossom’s students have been winners at local, national and international competitions, and have also been declared ‘Young Musician of the Year’. They have been awarded prizes at the ABRSM and TCL Examinations, at the Grade, Certificate and Diploma levels. Her students have been recipients of Exhibition Awards, the Palamkote Award, and the Hannam Clarke Award. Many of her students are teaching music in India, and some are furthering their musical education abroad. She encourages them to perform and has held several student concerts in Mumbai. Several of them have given public recitals too. Blossom is the founder Director of the reputed choral group ‘Living Voices’ that has received accolades from guest conductors and audiences alike. Living Voices, Mumbai has recently been invited to sing at the Lincoln Centre, New York in March 2020.
