Known for her dynamic artistry and thought-provoking recital programming, Steinway Young Artist Chelsea de Souza is a pianist equally at home in the worlds of traditional and new music. Winner of ConBrio 2010 and 3 other All-India Piano Competitions, she has been interviewed on NBC TV, performed live on public radio, and appeared in concerts across the US, Belgium, Germany, France, and India. Her 2022-23 season highlights include appearances for the Minnesota Orchestra’s summer season, performances with the New York City Ballet and the World Premiere of a new work by composer Nicky Sohn. A consummate chamber musician, Chelsea has performed at La Jolla Summerfest 2022, DACAMERA Chamber Music and Jazz Series, and for River Oaks Chamber Orchestra. She currently pursues a doctorate at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music in Houston, where she also teaches classes in music theory and hybrid music of the Indian diaspora.
Lauded for her emotional expressivity and her ability to “sing at the piano”, Chloe de Souza is the winner of two All-India piano competitions including ConBrio 2012. She has performed across India, France and the United States, with recent appearances in the Roland Park Place Retirement Community (Baltimore), the Chapel Hill Piano Salon Concert Series (North Carolina), and the “M.U.S.i.C - Stars in the Classics” concert series (Cleveland). An avid performer of Contemporary Classical music, Chloe is also an accomplished chamber musician who coaches singers and chamber, music groups. Chloe was elected in 2020 to the American Honor Society, Pi Kappa Lambda. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from the Oberlin Conservatory in Piano and Vocal Performance, and a Master’s in Piano Performance from the Eastman School of Music. She is currently working towards her doctorate in piano performance at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University.
